I got the famous code 32 on the highway today. Reseted the codes and the SES light whas gone. The questions is, how long until i get the light again?? And what is the usual thing that goes in the EGR??

Re: code 32. (devilfish)
Mine comes on every now and again, usually after cruising at a steady speed for a little while. Other times, I can drive for a looooonnngggg time before the code 32 comes up.
Put it this way - I don't bother resetting the codes after a code 32 anymore.
its usually just a switch or solenoid, i dont bother worrying about mine either, since i only see it on really hot days when i'm doing alot of hwy driving.

It is usually caused by the EGR temp switch. Try wiggling the wire from the switch around a little. It's the white ceramic plug in the EGR pipe back near the distributor. Sometimes it will get it working again. The system only looks at the thing after 10 min at near steady speed. That's why you usually don't get the code 32 around town.
I use to have the same problem after I installed a dual exhaust system. This reduced the back pressure in the system to where the EGR would not work properly. No problems, just the code 32 after about 10 min of cruising. I had my chip programed out by Craig Marcho. By the looks of the answers you are getting it looks like all these guys may have the same systems because of exhaust changes.

:yesnod: Code 32 is more prevalent on 90+ models because of the MAP sensor being used instead of a MAF. I don't know enough to explain why exactly but the different air metering system (MAP) is the main reason code 32 is so common on 90-91 cars (don't know if the same "issue" exists with MAP LT1's).
Intake or exhaust mods are what usually triggers the code. This can easily be remedied with a new chip (as you seem to be aware of) but for me I can't justify a new chip yet because the stock chip can handles my mods so far and I have ALOT of mods to do before I am finished so buying a chip until I REALLY need it would not make good financial sense for me.

That is what happened to me. Never had a code 32 until I installed a no pre cat front 'y' with a hi perf. hi flow main cat. Now I get 32's all the time. Not a BFD.
