Plenum cooling tip for MAF year vettes....
I was looking for a way to keep my SR cool, it seemed to get really warm after just a short time. Although I'm running a 383 SR this should work for any vette that has the radiator hose running next to the air duct. It's quite simple but it does change the looks a bit.
I took some Thermo-tec insulating blanket (silver on outside) and wrapped the upper radiator hose from the PS resevior to the Thermostat neck. One wrap with ty-raps to keep it on, not tight but just snug for some expansion of the hose. I ran down to the local renegade drag street and worked up a little heat, checked under the hood by touch on the SR and the temp was definately down by a quite a bit. I'm sure I've dropped plenum temp by at least 30 degrees. In fact, it really doesn't heat up now until it heat soaks after stopping the car. I did not note any noticable change in my coolant temp
from covering the hose.
I seems you can get all the cold air ramming hardware you can install and if the radiator hose is right beside the air duct it will just heat up at that point anyway.
Just thought I'd throw this out and see if it floats!!

Hmm.... That sounds like a good idea...
I was thinking of replacing the hoses with steel braided ones, but those would actually make things hotter under the hood..
I'll check it out in the future..

I wrapped the intake duct instead of the rad hose. Either way I am sure it helps. Maybe one day I'll get the intake Jet-Hot coated too
