its the stock rear alternator/cylinder head brace. Mabey im wrong here but I recall you having an issue with this bracket fitting with your hooker headers.
Mine did not connect there. Mine went to the rear bolt on cylinder #1. Hmm.....
Mine had a brace like that one shown. Not real sure exactly where it connected to. I had a problem with it connecting to the header and I left it off. Haven't had any problems so far.
Probably should remount it. Just have bigger issues now.

Actually I think my 89 had the same bracket like scorps.. I will have to check at home
My '90 had the same bracket that Scorp's been talking about. It goes from the alternator to the rear bolt of the #1 flange. No freakin' way it'll work with the Hooker headers.
I didn't even try to put mine on when I installed my pump ele. because I had seen Scorps post about it not fitting. I just went out to check mine and just installed it after a little adjustment. It fit back into the stock location, the #1 header rear stud and the alternator
I have the shorter bracket that goes to the number 1 port as well on my 86.It doesnt look like the one TnT has or the photo above.
Also, mine fit fine with the air pump eliminator in its stock location. No problems there.
Maybe GM did change the brackets between years and maybe if some other 85 owners can chime in and let us know, thatd be cool for info.
GM has always changed stuff here and there. Also,is it possible there was a campaign during 85 or so to add those braces to stop vibrations and then for the following year,GM made different ones and began using them on the assembly line?
I thought I read something about this some time back. Also wonder if Z51 cars had different engine braces then standard suspension cars?
Just a few thoughts.
:)

I made a bracket similar to that one.
Sure it'll fit- I just got out a torch, vise and a hammer......
