Default Runner defects?

Finally got my SLP runners I ordered back in December, but I am not the 1st too receive them. So now I gotta ask why where they returned? Their overall quality is pretty crappy, but nothing I can see that would make them not work. Still the fact it took so long, was a production problem delay and when I asked SLP they didn't tell me what the problem was.

The flanges look straight with ruff straight edge. One looks like it was poorly surfaced with a ruff file on the plenum and base ends. And the ports all look like someone started too port them or clean them up a tad on both.

Maybe this is the norm for SLP?

After looking at them some more they got a spot that is sticky from what I assume is duck tape and they smell like they have been used. few scraps and couple grease spots. Plus one spot of the flange that is dented(red circle) and may not seal well.

assuming you paid an arm and 3 legs for those runners, the slp name is worth 3 legs, if they were shipped to me...I'd ship them back to slp and get my money back. as you said, the quality, is worse than poor. that last pic looks like gasket material on the surface.

I haven't done anything with SLP for years and I'm surprised that they actually still offered the package that you ordered. I don't believe I'd be happy with the product from your snapshots but they're in "your hands"!

Is there a link to the product and if you don't mind what was the pricing of the package? Were these maybe from one of the Corvette catalog vendors?

I don't recall seeing much regarding the product for several years.

I used a discount code, so more like 2.5 legs and I will try too have them exchanged before refunded. I got them through a corvette vendor and I plan too call them tomorrow, but I don't expect much. They were poor with any info on the whole delay and any updates. I'll wait till I talked too them before I slam them, just like I'm waiting too complete my vender survey.

I am 100% they were returned too SLP because the SLP tape was cut and it was re-taped with clear tape and the other sides of the box lids.

edit: Also the cosmetic is not so much a big deal, but just I don't feel it's worth the trouble if they may not seal and maybe that is why they were returned. These days it seems you always have too compromise some with quality or spend a lot of time on the phone, returning and reordering everything you buy.

Those runners were owned by someone here on the forum remember seeing a thread on it just cant remember whose.
Sure they would step up and take them back obviously someone screwed up when they boxed those up.

edit: Thanks for posting that pic blackozvet, I looked and didn't find too many unported pics.

Update: A new set was suppose too ship the 15th, but it didn't and I got a call yesterday saying I already got my order. So I called and after a lot of explaining and holding I got it straightened out. They said they were on hold with SLP and would call me back and since it was late in the day I figured It may be the next day.

Next day(today) I get another call while out working on my car and the message said that I received my order and they were calling too let me know their records show that. So I call them back up and after more talking and holding I get sent too voicemail while on hold.

I'll be calling early tomorrow and I'll keep calling all day until I get this straightened out!

They should be ashamed for what they sent you and how they are treating you. If it were me, I'd want my money back just out of principal. If you let them get away with this, the next time it will be some other guy getting the same crap.

Well they have lost out on a lot of $ I've spent at other corvette vendors and you can bet I'll never spend another dime with them if this don't end positive. At this point I expect a fresh set or my money back and at least a discount code.

"message said that I received my order and they were calling too let me know their records show that."

If they are claiming they have 'records' then the shipment will have to have been tracked. You should have been sent a tracking number so you can verify where the shipment is during shipping. You also should have been asked to sign on delivery to verify you taking possession. If necessary challenge them to produce your signature.

I get the funny feeling that SLP runners just arent available,
if you check Summit they dont have them listed, and they have sold them for years,
if you check Jegs they have them listed, but on order,
thats probably why your vendor hasnt been able to produce a set, unless its a set of second handies that were returned.

Starting too think the same. If they had production problems I can see them just canceling the product, not like it's a huge market these days. Still the vendor has them listed and I can add them too cart.

The parts I received they are talking about is the orig order, the defective ones. They even gave me the old tracking number and I had too explain and ask them if they wanted the pictures again. I'm sure I'll get someone new today and start from scratch, gonna ask for a manager or something and I want too deal with them only from now on until this is resolved.

I'll be calling shortly, just wanna at least enjoy the start of my day, before I get into an argument.

Ok talked too a guy, who told me they are waiting on a email now from SLP. He got confused and saw I had two tracking numbers and I had too explain it was a multi-part order and I got all but the runners 1st and the 2nd wasn't a replacement it was me finally getting my runners. Then he was like well nothing we can do but wait for SLP. He couldn't even give me a return label and said that SLP had too give me one.

At that point I wanted a supervisor or something, cause we need more people in the loop too get this resolved. So I talked to the supervisor and he said he can get me a label too send them too them at least and he'll try too get ahold of SLP and call me back.

I don't think they want me to even return them, cause at some point I'll want my $ back!
