That's sad....

PP service, and a complete lack of respect for the customer AND his money. Its an unfortunate attitude these days with too many people in sales and service business. Once they have the money, they could care less. They believe the service ends when they cash your check....
That WAS the safety-net that we (customers) used to have....if they dicked around or the parts were junk, we could stop -payment or cancel payment until it was resolved. Now the world of instant transactions has taken away the consumers power.

In sales the analogy is "picking apples from the tree"... if you get a bad one or lose one you picked, just go get another. Apples being customers and the tree being the market you're involved with.
My question to all the "experts" in the business schools that "sold" business type degrees was....
"what happens when you pick the tree clean?"

MY SLP runners bought a couple yrs back looked exactly like blackozvets photo. No issues, not very exciting on the outside, and pretty plain inside. Certainly wasn't any grinding or dings or anything like that. Casting was a little rough IMO...but not flawed.

Like many/most others, they got gutted and opened up to the point that I actually ground a hole in one side...had to be welded up and sanded out again. They were originally supposed to be pretty...polished outside and enlarged inside...but after some thought, naw....lets see just how much meat there is on these bones !
Besides, polished intake parts allegedly trap and hold heat. Not my goal. I can make something else shiny...these I want to perform.

IF they do not want those back, that's what I'd do. Grind the $hit outta them and open those ugly things up so you can roll a golf ball thru. Because its a low pressure gasket/seal there is not a lot required to seal up the end plates. Use a little silicone in the thinnest edges and it'll be fine...If there is a leak between ports.... who cares? its only an outside edge vac leak that might be problematic... anyway.

Sure sorry to see someone forced to deal with this. Uncalled for. These vendors need to be brought back to reality with some good 'ol fashioned customer service rebound. Where forums like this one spread the word and THEY feel the pain next quarter on their P&L statement.
THEN, you will see a 'return' to what got them where they are today...GOOD customer service with a good product.

Hope it all works out for you !

Think heat sink fins or radiator fins, surface area dissipates heat. I like polished stuff as much as the next guy but unless it's the bottom of my intake(oil side, well not so much on TPI if you keep the shield) I'll keep it ruff.

I almost expect some hassle or defect these days, but I always pursue them if not very minor and as you mentioned slp are know for small defects. This was far from a quick fix and I will pursue my $ or a exchange.

Thanks all for the support and maybe I'm too nice but I'll give them just a lil longer too try and make it right before I bad mouth them too anyone who will listen.

Back too what leesvet was talking about earlier about Customer Service. I've felt for awhile now at least we have the internet for reviews, but now I've seen a commercial on TV and herd one on the radio about these companies that fix bad internet reviews and info. Looks like we'll be back too word of mouth shortly.

this is the sort of thing that is common on ebay now, people advertising stuff they dont have - then they order it from a supplier when you order it, I have been caught out a few times (being in Australia you have to rely on ebay to get parts from time to time) and it stinks when you realise you have been had,
its like a script they all use, the false promises - its been shipped / false shipping numbers / you have received it / you better contact the shipping company / there has been a storm / the airport has been snowed in !
and then they forbid you to leave negative feedback !

Well never got that call last week so just called and surprise the person who was supposed to call me was out for Lunch. The lady who helped me today put me on hold and tried too call SLP, said it just rang and rang and she'd add a note and the 1st Lady would try to get ahold of them and call me in the next few days.

So I decided too call SLP again. I called back in Jan when I was 1st told about the delay and they confirmed the production problem and the same date it should have shipped that I was given. This time I asked about the runners part number 20002 and was told they are discontinued. I then told him I had already ordered a set though another vendor and they said they were backordered and he said something like well they still may have some back stock but no new orders will be taken.

So at this point I'm almost positive Eckler's corvette is giving me the run around in hopes I'll eventually give up.

Edit: I do plan on calling them tomorrow and the next day and so on until I have my $ back or new runners!

Well called and talked too a guy, told him what SLP told me and he said he'd update the file and the orig person would get ahold of me. So I asked for a supervisor and talked too him and he said they will try and confirm what SLP told me and get back to me today.

So when I call them tomorrow, because they don't call me today I'll ask the last time for a return shipping label and a refund.

Well got a message shortly after I talked to them from the orig person and said she would try too get ahold of slp and call me later. Not having received the call I called them and was either directed too the orig CS or she called me the same time. Either way she said she could not get ahold of SLP and would take it too a higher person and that person would attempt to get ahold of SLP 1st thing tomorrow and then she would call me back.

So one more day, before I contact the CC and start the process.

Well the end is near perhaps. Got a call back this morning, but wasn't told. after waiting all day found a phone off the hook and called ecklers. LOL just as I got on the line with CS I received another call about the missed morning call form the person who left the phone off the hook.

I got transferred and talked too the orig CS and she told me they got a hold of SLP and the part is discontinued and they will have fedex pick it up tomorrow and send me a $50 gift cert. It should take 3-5 days for the refund and then I'll be somewhat happy. Annoyed I don't have the runners I wanted, but happy I am not stuck with crappy runners. If the sealing surface wasn't all scratched up on one I would have asked for a partial refund and ported them anyway, but if I can't get it too seal I could have more $ in them than a new set or be stuck with junk runners.

Well after all that I think they owe you an extra gift myself

But I imagine either way youll be wary of trying to deal with them again after all of that.

Ok I got a call yesterday and they said they still wanted too get me the part, I was kinda surprised and thought it was resolved. I told them only if it was soon because if it was gonna be awhile I'd prefer the refund and buy it from another vendor. I talked to them today and they said there is a part somewhat local and I can have it tomorrow. I told them go ahead and ship it. So they are at least making the effort to make it right and complete my order. I would have thought just getting another part from a diff vendor with it in stock would have been an option at some point when it started to really drag out, but I think maybe I was too nice.

The part is not here and once it's in my possession I'll be happy. Provided I don't get a accidental 2nd charge or some other unforeseen complication. When this whole thing started I didn't need the part. I knew it wasn't in stock and figured I had the time and could wait, but at his point I would have liked the part a lil over a month ago. Will I use Ecklers again? If I get my part tomorrow yes, just not on anything that's not in stock. I would have been happy with a refund months ago and bought it someplace else. For it too drag out this long and end incomplete would be a slap in the face.

Got my new runners today............. but! They are part number 20004(89-92) and not 20002(85-88). The box says 20002 and the runners look pretty good. Surfaces are flat and only two minor scratches across the sealing gasket area that should not be an issue. Still the miss-boxing would be on SLP and not Ecklers, if they had knowledge of the difference they may have just asked if I planned to use CSI. But if you want to get all conspiracy theory-ery crazy talk, when you look at Ecklers website you don't see SLP 20002, but they still have 20004 and the date on the box is 5-8-14. Since I know Dart Machinery is MI and their stuff is made in MI and these shipped form Livonia MI, where there is a foundry. I also know 20002 is discontinued but didn't ask SLP about 20004.

Now back when the delay happened, I considered asking if they had in stock 20004 instead and briefly looked into it and couldn't find too good of info other than one guy saying you may get a vac leak because the holes are a diff location. Figured I had until spring(Jan at the time) and would play it safe with 20002. Now that I have pictures of both part numbers I don't see any hole difference and basically I should be able too use these as long as I delete the CSI and I already had my new chip tune it out. So it really just saves me buying a delete kit for $30 off ebay. Unless someone can tell me why these won't work on my 86 with CSI already deleted in the tune?
