Alright, got the Firebird wheel bearing and installed it. Basically just swapped the way the bolt goes in and was still able to put the bracket back on the rear for the sensor line. Put the nuts back on the ends as well even though the bearing mounts are now threaded. I measured it too and it is perfect.

Did not fix my code 9-23 though. I thought for sure the wheel sensor was bad. Now, I have to figure out how to diagnose the problem.

I'll try to take pictures of the old hub assemblies tomorrow.

Glad the Firebird swap has worked for you and Olephart. Other than the threaded bearing mounts and the bolt direction swap, it looks like the same bearing unit. Saves $$ and works pretty good - thanks for taking the chance on the tip! Hope Pep Boys doesn't get wise to it and raise the price of the Firebird bearing.

You da man, Tom. Really appreciate the tip. At the rate these things fail on the track, I'm thinking about getting another pair before they figure it out.

im thinkin gabout replacing my front and rear. So the firebird/camaro bearings work with no complication???? How difficult are these to install at home??? also, what are some signs of bad bearings??? I replaced my studs with longer ones from DRM and i did ( :nono: ) bang away a little removing and replacing the studs. I think i might have damaged them. Any comments guys ??? i have a 93 lt1

To replace the front one last night it took me about 30 minutes. Much easier than the rear. The new unit will obviously come with new studs and you will have to R&R the longer ones to the new unit. If you can replace the studs while the hub assembly is on the bench, it will probably keep any damage from happening to the bearing.

Thanks Tom! The Forum saved me yet another $100+.
