Hi all. I am replacing the 4 x 3 in my 84 C4 with a tremac T56. Looking for a gearbox crossmember. Does anyone know of anybody doing one to suit? Thanks.
When the mech workshop is charging around $75 per hr than yes an over the counter one at about $300 landed here is still going to be cheaper than me paying for materials on top of an hourly rate to produce one.
There's two images in that thread and if both transmission are on the bench you just fabricate and modify the bracket to your preferences using similar thickness wood** product and glue. When you've a suitable "model" you have it duplicated in the appropriate material. Better than using the 4+ put your hands on an A4 extension. Your only other requirement is the C-beam you intend to use.
You'll be only limited by your own capabilities. When completed yours should fit, some "over the counter" didn't do very well.
I did a "Google" search and ended up with several images that could help.
** I've done similar projects but used plastic product because it could be threaded and use threaded fasteners.
My .02 the ProStreet mount was reasonably cheap and it made my project move forward a little faster. If I had the time I could have made my own. To have something like this fabricated you need to be talking to a welder, rather than a shop mechanic (flat rate=$$$). Even a hobbyist welder could fab one up. Have the "C" beam on hand, as well as the T56 and a lot of pictures: your in business!

Ok. Looks like fabricating one is the only option. Thanks for your feedback though.
