Default Clutch slipping

Hello,

my clutch in my L98 1994 C4 vette is slipping.

1. Is it possible, it is a hydraulic problem?
2. If not, I know, I must change clutch kit or lamell plate. Is it necessary to change clutch bearing everytime with this operation? Or I can use current bearing if it will looks OK? Mileage of my vette is 39000 only.
3. I have some performance modifications in my vette like exhaust, chiptuning, forced air etc. (approx. 400hp max). Is it possible to use OEM clutch kit or it’s better to use some special performance kit or organic paneling on my lamell?

Is this car forced induction or just cold air intake mods?

Agreed cold air or supercharged etc?
Also being a 1994 wouldn't this be an lt1 motor rather than a l98?

Not supercharged, only ram air intake. And it is really L98 engine. I can see, I wrote down a bad year. It’s 1991. Sorry, my mistake.
So, what you think about that clutch?

Ok that makes sense. Yeah 1991 last year for the L98.
But with the miles I wouldn't think it's the clutch but guess it could be possible.
Anyone else have opinion?

I know, there was a problem with the slave cylinder (replaced). And I think, it maybe doesn’t retuned to basic position after relasing clutch pedal, so clutch was little slipping. What you think, is it possible? Second possibility is a lot of performance for OEM clutch. What you think, is it 400hp a lot for OEM clutch?

Hmmm might need to bleed your hydraulics for the clutch, maybe air in line.
It would depend on what the oem clutch is honestly. If its like the clutch for 6speed lt1 you would still be ok at 400 crank hp under normal driving
Always a possibility of clutch though. Alot depends on driving habits and conditions.

The slave cylinder was wrong. I changed it and bleeded new, but clutch is still slipping. So I think, clutch is problem. Btw. my vette is 6 speed manual.
I think about clutch performance kits on corvette central, but you need aluminum flywheel too, isn’t it?

Hmm performance clutch kits I'm uncertain about. Lol never had to do one on a corvette yet.
I know you usually have to go with a different flywheel I believe. Not sure though
Oem is a dual mass.
You have the zf 6spd so I assume same clutch as lt1.
I want to say oem clutch is good up to 400 crank hp

Well it's possible that in 20+ years the clutch disk got contaminated. 400hp and a lot of racing would do in the stock clutch by now as well. If the hydraulics were suspect you would be experiencing disengagement issues not engagement issues. I'm sorry to say that I would be planning a clutch job on this one. I just did one not too long ago; not a bad job but I wrapped up a fair amount of money in it.

Depending upon what you plan to do with the car you can go one of 2 ways. You can either retain the stock hydraulics or go to the integrated throw-out bearing/hydraulic combination. The big part will be that the integrated setup is for a push style clutch where as the factory clutch is a pull style.

It gets a little deep pretty quick, you can PM me and we can talk through some of the options and I have a shop that is really vette friendly that will pass along a nice discount on CenterForce or Ram stuff if you want to go that route. Just my .02, best of luck on it!

OK, so there are not any difference between l98 and lt1 clutch? Only in holding force? I think, this is my way.
