Gear oil plus additive question
If this question has been answered and I missed it please forgive me.
If I was to change the gear oil in my C4 (95, auto, 28k miles) and used Valvoline SynPower, Mobil 1, or Royal Purple. Do I still need to add the additive? They all list they have a limited slip additive in the product. I do not want to add to much and cause it to be an issue.
Are most users happy with Synthetic gear oil or is it better with the C4 to stick with a conventional oil?
Also has anyone used this additive or is it better to go with the dealer stuff?

Thank you very much

I USE conventional oil (from GM or Valvoline 80w90) and the GM additive ONLY.

I've used the mobile one 75-90w LS on several cars with no extra additive since it already has some.

On my '96 Impala I used a gear oil that said it was for limited slip and had the additives. It didn't work. It had a lot of chatter especially at slow speeds. I pulled some out and added the GM additive. It worked. No chatter.

Nothing at all wrong with using what GM recommends for diff fluid. The GM Posi additive has been around for years and it works.

Regardless of which lubricant you select, use the GM additive.

thanks everyone. Will one of the bottles of additive be enough, I know that it is only 4ozs.
I have been going through the manual like crazy and cant find anything on changing the fluid only checking to make sure that it is topped off.
Thanks again

That's why I like the stuff with it already in it, it's the correct ratio.

Thanks for the advice. Now I need the time to crawl under the car and work on it.
