From the ZF I noticed that sometime I have what sounds like "rocks in a can" sound. If I have the car in neutral and reeve the engine, I can hear the sound when the rpm drops. Is this normal ZF sound? Its not loud its just there sometimes..
And I have the dualm fw.
It is most noticeable when the car is coasting and when I gently touch and release the throttle I can hear a clunk. At about 30-40 km/h, and often in second gear. Is this also normal?
Are you sure the clunk is coming from the trans? Usually a clunk while changing from power to coast is coming from the differential (slack in the gears). I can't recall ever hearing that from my trans, though (not saying it isn't possible).
It could be that your dualmass flywheel is losing its dampning ability. Perhaps the fluid that is sealed inbetween the masses is leaking. Once it is gone, the two masses can rotate easily, thus losing the noise dampning ability.
