I am about to start removing the EGR on my 92 and I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do with This t port that goes into the side of the manifold on the driver side if someone could let me know if I'm just to block this off or leave it open or what it is even.http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h6...ps1ergxoqp.jpg
First, EGR only helps improve mileage and does not operate under load such as WOT. Therefore, no performance increase will be gained and only a loss of mileage will occur. Removal for headers would be understood. The vacuum hose runs to the EGR solenoid and may be blocked of and plugged.
Headers going on this weekend. Just removing easy stuff now. So that t port that I'm removing will leave a nipple coming off the intake open, what is to be done with that nipple leave IT open or block it off somehow
So leave it even though my chip I have to be installed is tuned for it not being there? I've removed the egr on 3 separate lt1 cars when I installed headers. Ive never had issues, not doubting you guys, just saying my history with it.
Already have a pcmforless chip here ready with all that. Lol I just wanna know about this nipple in the intake that had that t port hooked to it haha?
If the PROM is EGR delete, you don't have to do ANYTHING. If there is a vac nipple OPEN, IIWM, I'd replace the line that goes there to keep it 'right' so you will know what it is and where it goes in the future. Another reason is to avoid potential vac leaks from deleted parts. If its left alone the chances of leaks are much less. Again,. 99% of ALL function and operation is a permission of/from the ECM. If the ECM does not tell the egr or anything else to work....it simply won't do anything.
The PROM will do everything in the ECM. Your 'smog stuff' stays in place to look good and give that "stock appearance"...
The headers would have to be prepped for EGR to provide exhaust gases to the intake port. Without this just leave the EGR delete, and hope the programmer did it right. it takes more than just unchecking the diagnostics box. the EGR operation must be turned off.
Everything associated with it including the solenoid. My experience is with 1995's but I take off everything. Cleans up the engine real well. I just get blanking plates for the EGR and the feed tube, remove everything and plug all the vacuum holes. Bryan at PCMforless does the rest.
