On my 86 I went too change my filter and a swap a descreened maf I already had and found my housing was split at the maf sensor. Is this common?
After finding the cheapest new housing I could find($135+ship) was out of stock and wouldn't ship until 5/24, figured I'd try and fix it for now. I put a large hose clamp on it and it held it together pretty good, but you could still see daylight at the cracks. So I decided too try and epoxy it with the clamp. Used some locktite plastics epoxy and it turned out ok so far, stuff was more stringy and runnier than the epoxy I've used before. When I put the sensor inside some too make sure it'd still fit I had too loosen the clamp some, but that gave me a gap I had too carefully fill with epoxy and make sure I wasn't gonna bond them together. Since the gap was only with the sensor I think the clamp may have ovaled it some and I'll have too wait until it cures before I can see if the fix will work and seal.
I'll take a pic when it's done curing. I may replace it even if it works, just at least for $6 I can drive it until then.
The same thing happened on mine. I replaced the duct because the screws had also broken. On the new duct I installed a hose clamp where the other one split. No problems since then.

Thx for the info, since I'm not the only one I'd use a clamp on the next one too.
It's not pretty, but it works so far. Stuff dried hard and even tho you can see threw the one part, it's covered with epoxy. I'm not too fond of the gap but with the gap closed you couldn't get the MAF out or back in, it fits nice and tight and it'll work for awhile at least. I wouldn't wanna spray anything around it too test the seal that might eat the epoxy, so I'll try some propane and see how good it is tomorrow. This epoxy is sandable and paintable, so I may try that later. Still I think it'll be replaced with new in the long run, it kinda does look like the clamp ovaled it slightly.
