Default coolant fan switch help

Bought an aux coolant fan switch for my 84. It came with the switch and pig tail, i was just wondering if anyone could explain how to wire it and what relay to use so it will turn on and shut off with the car.

Most vendors who sell that package either include the instructions with the kit or have access on a website for the install. Whose kit did you buy and what are the temps advertised. Temp might be cast in the element of the switch. Since you've asked you might want to confirm the operation temperatures of the switch using water of the specified temperatures. It's not unusual for there to be a great deviation of advertised to actual.

What is the intended use of the sw??
Does your Vette have two fans?

If a new installation and you will still use the main fan control, you will need:
- a relay same as main fan relay will do
- a fusable link, same as main fan uses
- cable & connectors

ETRBUJ, since you call this an "aux coolant fan switch", I'm presuming you're talking about a toggle switch to be mounted on your dash some place. If this is true, WVZR-1 and 65Z01, I think you're making this harder than it needs to be. The '84 has only one fan, and the "switch and pigtail" can only be for one thing.
The relay for the radiator fan is located on the inside of the fender well, just below the brake master cylinder. By running a wire from the dark green/white at the relay, to your new toggle switch, and the other side of the switch to a good ground connection, you can turn on the fan whenever you want. The fan will go off when you turn off the ignition.

Personally, I don't see any use for this switch. I'd rather let the engine Coolant Temperature Switch (CTS) turn the fan on at the proper temperature. If your CTS turns on the fan at a too high temperature, lower temperature switches are available. Mid America Motorworks has one, p/n 09-106 for $20 that turns the fan on at 200 deg. As you may know, the CTS in your '84 is located in the right (passenger) side head, between plugs 6 and 8.
If the fan is turning on okay, and your engine is still running too hot, the new switch won't help anything.

Replaces the original switch mentioned above.

So ETRBUJ, what did you figure out? As you can see by the variety of responses to your post, there has been quite a bit of speculation about your question. What did you do to solve your problem?
