fuse 17 blown

fuse 17 blown
Fuse 17 on my 94 blows as soon as you start the car, also, if you start the car and put the fuse in it blows right away...., with the key turnrd to on, its fine, has power, and will not blow till you turn the key...does anyone know what other accesories are on fuse 17 labled "valet".....i know it supplies power to transmission, but thats it....any help, or if anyine has sone good schematics, please let know...thanks..

Yes and I assumed it was an LT1 so I just removed the LT5 reference. The LT5 is habit. There's a brown wire at the alternator, I would think if it were transmission related you should have DTC's. Do you have any codes? Maybe just unplug alternator connector and see what happens. Remove alternator and have it checked on a bench. What does the voltmeter tell you at the dash? Did you have charging issues recently?

Alright, im workin, cant do much, but some info,,,i just bought this car, but the guy put a new alt in , it charges about 14 volts, so its charging good, but i looked towards the bottom of alt and saw those wire, which are spliced and taped, and who knows what else., ..im gonna check the wires out real good when i get a chance, and let you know what i find...i think you got me on the right track now though,,,,thank u

Thanks a bunch guys, the previous owner hooked the two smaler wires up backwards,.....i got to take the alt off and fix tge wires right, but i unhooked one of them, no blown fuse, and my vette shifts right.....ive only had this car a few days, and only really had second and fourth gear, so thanks to you fellers, im ready to really see what a vette has got... :-) thanks again for your help...
