I have an '88 vert (auto trans) with a leaking rear seal. Does anyone know what the original part# is and where I might look for one? Don't want cheap Chinese stuff with this part; would really like to find AC Delco or similar quality.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Every auto parts store in town can help you and any GM dealer near you will have it on the shelf also. For an '88 you might want to do the extension bushing also and you might want to confirm it's actually a leaking seal and maybe not weeping through the slip yoke. An '88 I believe will also have a sleeve with an o-ring on the output shaft.
Thanks for the input. The problem is that the local auto parts stores always seem to sell the Chinese stuff, and the local dealers mark their prices up 2-3 times over online pricing. I think that I can find the ACDelco seal if I can get the GM parts number. The original factory parts book (which I have), for whatever reason, doesn't include a part number for the seal. A bit frustrating.
Find either a National or BCA seal. Have you tried a NAPA store or their online store? Rockauto carries a number of rear seals from AC Delco and Victor Reinz or SKF. But the problem with online ordering is that the shipping costs will be much higher than the part itself.
Same with buying at a GM dealership. The seal itself is cheap; you're paying the markup.
Some GM part numbers do change over the years. The GM part number originally assigned to a seal back in '88 could very well have been superseded a few times over the years. But a good parts guy at a dealership will be able to come up with one. And that gets you the current part number.
8673526 will get you a GM or ACD seal, at any auto parts store an equivalent will. If the box has a country of origin on it you don't like then pass. 4583, 9613S, or 15041 will get you the appropriate after-market or a brand that they carry.
If your transmission has the output shaft sleeve and o-ring then a GM or ACD 3764601 will get you that o-ring.
If someone offers you a seal with a boot you do not want that. There's no room for the boot in a C4 application.
