Thanks everyone for helping me with my restoration. I am restoring an ’87 convertible and it is going great (and a little expensive).
Here is a trick I used to compress the spring and retaining clip on the visor.
Slide the visor through the hole in the frame and put the spring in place. I used a small amount of grease on the post of the visor and the base of the spring.
Next put the retainer clip over the post.
It is hard to compress the spring by hand to get the locking nut on.
This is where my tip will help.
Place a socked over the retainer clip and use a wood clamp to compress the retainer down onto the spring[/B]. Then just remove the clamp and put the nut on. It makes this job very easy.
I attached 2 pictures to show what I did. I hope this helps everyone that is doing this job.

I dunno.... I thought it was GREAT fun when I did this job by hand. One of the springs SHOT out of the hole and landed somewhere in the garage (where we all know most mechanic's garages have more than 2 cars and a rake!) It only too about 20 minutes to find the spring.

I considered myself very lucky!
Looks like a great tip!
Every heard of fishline
That's one I've used alot of times when assembling something (if I think of it at the time). Wrap some line around or through something while assembling. If it flies, the line stops it from skating all over the place. If around threads, the nut cuts it off when assembled. I've even used it to hold a bolt from the backside of something while I threaded the nut on when it was a bear fitting my hand behind it.
My biggest problem is I usually have a senior moment and can't remember where I put that spool of fishline.
