Default Running E85 in an L98?

If I want to run E85 in an L98 I know I need a 33% bigger injector. What about Stoich? If gas is 14.7 AFR what have others here been running E85 at? Or do I just run open loop and disconnect the O2?

This can be deleted if a mod wants. I found this, and it answered most of my questions.

Stoich? If you use the appropriate 02 sensor(flex fuel?) is will run stoich 1.0 lambda or 9.765/1. I doubt the stock sensor will work. you will also need to run fuel line for E85 ethanol and maybe run aftermarket ECU...Not sure if a stock GM ECU will work. It might as it too is looking for stoich...

The only advantage I see is higher octane(100+) for a modified engine at better cost than race gas.... Is that your need?

Mine was tuned by Ed Hutchings and its a LT1. FWIW my e85 tune has a stoich setting of 9.7. We installed bigger injectors, (60lb) and I have a 255 pump. Other then that, everything else is stock, ie fuel lines, rails, tank, etc.

Again, FWIW the stock O2 seem to work fine. Advantages to running it for me are, about 20 more hp, (according to Ed) It runs cooler, and it runs cleaner. I have not been able to verify power difference at the track yet but I plan to try to. Details of my build are in my signature.

X2 on Jack Didley. He ran it for a long time but I think has gone back to E10. As for any savings, its a wash. E85 is about 20% cheaper than E10 and it will burn 20% faster. You do get more power so do it for that reason, not that you think you will save money.

The O2 sensor doesn't care. It measures lambda and lambda 1.0 is lambda 1.0 with any fuel.

Been looking all over for L98 E85 info! 93 Ragtop I see that you are forced induction..I'm stuck on a low budget so I'm thinking some 12:1 slugs and 32+ lb-hr? My stock pump going to be fine up to 350hp on corn? Cam and headers would complete the build.

Specific question - did you find any rubber parts that shrunk due to exposure? Also, are you using E85 from the pump or are you mixing your own?

I ran E85 for 3 years in my 87. Stock pump will not get the job done. I used 32# injectors and a Walbro 255 pump. Just not enough E85 pumps available for me. 10mile trip just to fill up the tank so I went back to gas.

If you just want to pass emissions it should be easy. You will need to datalog and tweak the tune. Easy way would be to adjust the injector constant in the tune. At first I jacked up the fuel pressure to 76#. Walbro 255 pump was deadheaded. That let my 24? pound injectors put out close to 32. It worked pretty well but the injector PW maxed out at WOT. After a while I went to 32 pound injectors at 54# FP. Big problem for me was getting E85. Not enough E85 pumps around here.

You can. Any significant % will require a change in the tune. Newer cars have an alcohol fuel sensor and they compensate on their own based on that.
