I am trying to replace the Fuel / Trip buttons on my C4 1996. Anybody got the secret of how to make the replacement buttons stay on? The C4 I just acquired was missing the buttons, I bought NOS buttons but they keep popping off. My 64 is not quite this sophisticated so... before I start playing with some kind of glue... you guys got any suggestions?
Also, I know this must have been covered, but this thing seems to run pretty hot. I've already replaced thermostat with new GM 180 stat.
Thx in advance for your help.

What is hot?
For running hot, check the radiator for any plastic bags, leaves, trash, etc for blocking air flow. Also check to see if the fans are kicking on, just let the car idle and they will kick on at their programmed temps. I believe the second wont kick on till 235. Lastly i will check my coolant, check to see if it looks dirty or like sludge, if so it will need replacement.

Others will chime in with more detail or point you to another thread, but these engines are designed to run hot.

So far I have flushed and changed all the fluids, oil/filter, trans/diff, cooling sys, belts/hoses, etc. All runs fine but this weekend we had a parade (I'm a Shriner) and while creeping along @ about 4-5 MPH the Temp gauge kept running up to about the last mark before 260. Never got into the danger zone but I was just a little concerned. If this is normal so be it. On the run home all was fine. Great car! So now it's on to fixing all the little interior plastic, replace all the rotted weather stripping, etc.etc.
Thanks for your help!

These suck cooling air via the bottom front, under the beltline. Check for plastic bags / debris in front of the A/C condenser under the car, then from the engine compartment unbolt the radiator, tilt it back, and gently hose out between the radiator and the A/C condenser. Most of the time the air flow is clogged with crap between the radiator and A/C condenser, that is most likely the issue....30 minute fix. Don't kill the fins with high pressure water, be gentle.

C4's should get to about 226 degrees the the fan will go on, then fan shuts off at 216. That's the cycle. Anything above 230 shortens the life of seals, gaskets, etc.
