Default c4 weatherstripping.

Just wondering if anyone knows of good weatherstripping?
I've looked around on the web and i found a bundle set for like $70. Which seemed a little fishy to me, as i saw nothing else that cheap when i was searching on Ebay?
If anyone have a link that'd be greatly appreciated!

A lot of the guys on here use Wilcox Corvette for their weatherstripping, I believe it's CRC weatherstripping and it holds up very well... I have had it on my 89 for 7 years and it's still going strong.........WW

$70 ???

Run ! ! ! That HAS to be some generic weather strip from Home Depot or Lowes !
There is not a single piece of C4 weather strip that cost $70...much less a "set" or bundle.

Plan on spending close to $750 to $1000 for everything. Real weather strip ain;t cheap.
IIRC, just the cargo hatch is $175 +- a few $

Most folks do the cabin...A pillar, roof panel sides, rear(B-pillar) then the cargo.

Next would be door panel seals, then move to the engine bay with fender seals and hood seals.

Good weather strip is soft foam with a very durable tough skin, (open cell-skinned). If its too hard or stiff it won't seal. Too soft and it gets damaged easy.

Read up on the past threads. There is an art to installing rubber...
don't cheat with glue either....that does NOT fix a poor fit. Cleaning the old stuff off 100% is the secret to installing new. Always 'dry-fit' each section, then go back and use good weather strip glue ONLY in small sections at corners and ends where the rubber will not stay tucked in the channel. Use a 4 or 6" plastic bondo spreader to 'tuck' the rubber down fully into the channel or track where it lives. Do NOT use metal scrapers or other tools that might CUT the skin...it'll leak and rot out. If cut, its junk.

I used a set from Corvette America.....forget the mfg of their product but it was good stuff....about avg in cost.

Another is Corvetterubber.com if they are still around.

Have fun !

I got my weatherstripping from Wilcox. I bought the expensive ones because I wanted to be leak free. They forgot to ship the parts until I called two weeks after placing the order.

When they finally got here, I installed both the A and B pillar weatherstripping. Both leaked air and water worse than the original which was ripped and dry rotted.

When I called, I was told that my window needed adjusting (which it did not). I was then told I had to also replace the targa weatherstripping even though it was replaced last year and it sealed fine.

Finally, I was told that I needed to shim the weatherstripping out to meet the window.

I know a lot of guys on here use Wilcox, I will not do so again. -Product was defective from the get-go and Wilcox basically gave me every excuse in the world in refusing to send out new ones.

Just keep in mind that YMMV.
