Without a pic I'm not sure if either matches mine from MAD.
It twists into position on the hatch striker, keeps the hatch up an inch or so and requires a little adjustment of the prong to depress the hatch light button.
Frankly I don't use mine much as my hatch glass it is heavily tinted and I get strong reflection of my rear deck in the rear view. Also, on NE NJ roads, I get a lot of shake of the hatch which sort of bothers me. I didn't realy notice a reduction in "turbulence" nor wind noise with the top off.
I had the one you show as option two, be careful this one does not stop you hatch from trying to come down when you hit a bump, the window trying to come down in turn bends the bracket with the switch for the hatch lights. I had this problem and it set off my alarm because the bracket was bent and just the slightest amount of wind would make the alarm think that someone had opened the hatch. I ended up buying the EZ Vent that is shown in the other response, works much better, am completely satisfied with it.
Mine looks similar to the one in #1. Works nice but I've overtightened it and cracked it in two place. Mine is cast from very cheap pot metal and will break rather than bend. Came from MAD I believe.
I can only speak about my 4 year experience with the 1984-96 Ventmaster Part# 30728. It installs and removes in less than 5 seconds and requires no tools.
The one I produced is by far the best :yesnod: But I don't have anymore :nonod:
Agreed! They looked awesome on your site, but like you said, you dont have anymore and what is to be found aint cheap. People are wanting $75+ for one of those bad boys!
Kevin, what did you sell them for when you made them?
