Default Code 32 and SES

I finally fixed it after two years. New EGR works great. No more code 32 or SES light. I also cleaned up the throttle body. It was pretty dirty and gummed up. And whatever that little sensor is inside the plenum got cleaned too. That EGR bolt on the drivers side was a bitch to get out. It's torqued too high for a shorty wrench and no way could get a socket on it. I ended up bending a longer 3/8" wrench to get it off. The FSM said 10mm but they were 3/8". The only other way to get at it would be to pull the fuel rails which I didn't what to touch.

took only doing this once for me to see that things needed to be rearranged...

I moved everything so it could be accessed without lifting the plenum. Now, the EGR vac hose runs to the solenoid that's on the backside of the alt bracket and the other misc hoses and things are all pulled out and easy to get to.

yessir, those egr bolts are 'special tool' deals alright... I used an angled 3/8 box end, then a shorty open end once they were broke loose. Also installed allens in ALL the plenum/runner mounts...no mas torx caca. No weino for chit.

The good part about the factory arrangement is that the smog inspectors can't get to it to test it. Here in Ca. they are not allowed to disassemble anything to inspect the car. Even though it's been bad for at least two years it passed inspection because the SES light never comes on unless on the highway above 60 mph. So, I got to fix it when I felt like doing it. I was also surprised that the manifold was not all carboned up. I didn't have to do any carbon clean up at all on the lower manifold.

Hummmm Good point !

the manifolds EGR passage is usually full of crud...and the runners egr tubes too...maybe the PO had been in there before? if its clean and looks good, who cares how !
