Vacume leak, or something else?
OK, I'm starting a different thread to get info about this aspect of my engine.
Idle has been tolerable, but not right. Much better than when i got it, but I'm trying to make it better and smoother.
I put a vacuum gauge on the manifold and I'm only getting 15" of vacuum, with a shaky needle.
On my gauge it says the timing is late. but I've set the timing with my new balancer.
what do y'all think?
I've sprayed carb cleaner all around. vacuum hoses are new.
what else to check?

I just went out and looked at the gauge again to make sure. I was incorrect in how much movement the needle has.
It's less than one inch of vacuum either way. So basically it's just a about a 1/2" of vacuum either w needle, not the steady vacuum that I get when I put the gauge on the vacuum port on the throttle bodies.

Not sure if this helps, but I had a similar problem. Tried the carb cleaner and propane tricks to no avail. Finally I sprayed water on the intake and I could see the water being sucked in. New gaskets and now a steady 20 inches.
