Does anyone know what "size" or "brand" of speaker fits in the dash pad on my 89.. I bought another dash pad and it doesn't have speaker mounts , I'll have to use the ones from the old dash pad and I want to purchase the speakers before I remove the pad....Thanks.....WW

They are 4 X 6 and depending on the radio used the 10 Ohm might be of some concern. The OE weren't discontinued until recently and there could be some OE out there by part # on eBay or whatever. These did fit nearly everything GM did for a couple decades so ..
Thanks for the replys.. I have an Alpine system so any good 4X6 should work.....WW
Wayne, Try to get the shallowest speakers you can find. The OEM speakers were very shallow. Most aftermarket speakers would be so deep that getting the dash pad back on becomes difficult.

Or, you'll have to cut some of the inner dash plastic.

Or, convert the grilles to drop-ins -- like I did. I bought some of those standard speaker "pins" that hold speaker grills on home speakers. I put them on the dash grills.
Now I can pop them out first, then r/r the dash pad.
But, there IS a limit to the 4x6" speaker depth. I'm thinking 3" maybe. But, I don't remember for sure.
Unless someone posts that depth, I would pull the dash first. It's VERY easy to place back into the car w/o using fasteners. I lived with it "loose" for a few weeks one time. It stays tight....just by pressure.
