Default Replace Bose stereo and speakers

I bought a old tired 88 convertible that has a Jensen CD and no name speakers. Think who ever hooked it up was color blind. After I went through and got the wiring straightened out found that it worked. Speakers shot but easy enough fix. In reading all the threads here it looks like folks are mixed on using new wiring vs using the stock Bose speaker wire. Just speaker not amp wires. Right now the rear speakers have a good size wire run to them (but not hid real good). I guess what I am asking is why go to the trouble and expense of new wires when the wires coming out of the unit are no bigger than the Bose wires? Those wires are tucked up out of the way and would just need new connectors. The Bose wires don't have far to go and will be small wattage.
Thanks from Vette newbie

I had both my 1993 and 1994 Convert's upgraded to new head units and Fusion speakers. The shop replaced all the wiring, removed all the Bose parts and fixed the power antenna leads.
