Default tight rings

88 vert 42,000 cracked block. I obtained a low mileage,4 bolt supposedly balanced short block. Ordered new rings from summit. New rings, top has .004 side clearence. 2nd has .0015 clearence. FSM says this is to tight. How do I go about ordering the right rings. Thanks Joe

This was years ago when I built a 350 from the bare block up....you would take a file and file the end of a ring to get the clearance you needed. I would think it would be the same today.....but contact your local machinist and check with them.

Yes you need to file the rings for the correct clearance, do not leave it to chance that they gave you the correct size .

Thanks for the replys. But, I am asking about side gap (to tight in grooves). Not end gap.
Thanks Joe
