I have ordered a roll bar but it is on back order, big surprise, but anyway I decided to make my own camera bar that mounts between the seat belt post. I went and bought a post for a chain link fence 1 5/8 dia. I want to make a camera mount bracket for it like you can order from hardbar.net . can't seem to find the pieces that go around the roll bar( 2 pieces of alumnium that form to make a circle around the roll bar with a bolt that goes through the top and bottom). Does anyone know where the clamps can be bought(tried Lowes and Home Depot w/ no luck......
Re: Camera mount for roll bar????? (Brett Richmond)
I was thinking about doing the same thing. There is a company called OGRACING that sells a camera mount designed to clamp around a roll bar. They have a internet site with a picture of it.
Don't know about the clamps. But I made my own camera mount. Bought the same head use on those $90 mounts you see in the race shops like OG Racing. Cost $30 bucks delivered to my door. Hockey buck was free thanks to the Capitals hockey team.
I use a hockey buck with a drilled hole in the center in place of that red poly bushing they use. My harness bar had a flat small metal mount for teh camera. Works great. Almost all of the camera movement will come from the video camera bouncing anyways regardless of what kind of bushing you use. They secret is to tie the camera down tight with little straps. :yesnod:
