Don't matter. Heard this debate a hundred times If that was the case why not by Uniroyal whitewall sno-tyres? Drive a sports car and get the proper shock. If your an autocrosser the Bilsteins will probably not be enough.
Oh but it does matter to me. I'm not debating like you, just offering my own opinion from personal experience. And as for your uniroyal tires comment, that's just silly.
Actually, this explains a lot.
The B8 is a Sport shock. I believe they used to sell a Sport SET F&R.
It appears that only a standard front is available now with a choice of Stnd or Sport for the rear.
Also why the Sport works so well on my lowered 86.....
Thanks for the info
FYI Run a google search on the p/n and you'll find some better prices

I am getting ready to buy some new shocks and found some info on the Bilstein HD (non Z51) and SP (Z51) for comparison.
I searched for my '95 Corvette and found length and damping values by part number for these shocks.
**The only length difference between the HD or SP is the compressed length of the front shocks. The Z51 has more travel and can go slightly lower.
**The damping rates are quite different. The Z51 rates are about twice as firm in both jounce and rebound.
For me the choice is easy. I will go with the Z51 shocks on my '95. I liked them on my '94 and was investigating it to see the differences. I like a firmer ride.
HD (B6) Front (non Z51) 24-020534
Length Min/Max 10.18" / 13.56"
Damping Jounce/Rebound 106 Nm/ 76 Nm
Well I decided to go with what she was born with and ordered 4 new B6 series Bilsteins this morning. Pretty sure she's still sportin originals. At least one looks like it's been leaking so I'm hoping for a big improvement in ride quality and performance. Thanks to all who provided input on this topic!

Let us know if you have any improved ride quality. How many miles on your Vette?
My 84 had all original shocks, bushings, balljoints, etc.. I bought a prothane kit from summit, a new rear centerlink/toe rod setup, new tie rod ends, new balljoints, and Monroe sensatracs all the way around. I still need a 4 wheel alignment but its way better than it was. The car rides like a go kart, If I didn't install the shocks myself I wouldn't believe it had any suspension lol. Since it still needs aligned I can't accurately judge the shocks, But I lined it up best I could with a tape measure while replacing everything, It drives straight down the road and steering wheel is straight, it will "skip" a lil at 70mph on a bumpy highway bend, but I can easily stay in my lane. I don't know if this is due to cheap shocks or poor alignment. I have bilsteins on my 95 3 series and that thing rides beautiful and holds any line on any highway. but apples and oranges.

Cheap shocks, worn shocks or the wrong valving for the spring rate.
Usually its cheap/worn shocks.

I've mentioned in other posts that I haven't done much wrenching on cars for years but shock replacement looks pretty straight forward. Any tricky stuff involved on vettes?

The front shocks are easy, I just opened the hood and changed them. The rear were easy also but I have a lift and air tools, on the ground with a jack would probably suck.

I called Bilstein this morning. It appears that the stock OEM Bilsteins do not have the same valveing that the B6 has. By replacing with the B6 HD there should be an improvement in handling according to the Bilstein rep I spoke with. Please post the driveability results with the new shocks. I am considering the B8's even though my car is a base model non Z51.
