Default Distributor question???

So, I finally got a weekend to tinker with the Vette.

I'm still trying to understand what the PO did to this car and then correct the wrongs so it runs correctly.

Somewhere he picked up a MSD ignition system and installed SOME of the pieces.

So I have an MSD-6AL control module sitting in a box ,an MSD external Extreme energy coil installed and an MSD Distributor with matching cap and rotor installed.

The cap and rotor look specific to that distributor as it is only a 2 bolt cap. The distributor module is stamped with MSD part # prd18102. When I did a lookup on this it is labeled as a TBI distributor?!?!?!

Is this compatible with the TPI setup? Do I need to wire the MSD-6AL control module into the system as well? Or should I scrap the whole deal and go back to factory HEI?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

I would just sell the MSD and get a stock HEI, stock dizzys have more power then you actually need and everything is contained in the one unit...Some people change out the distributor and don't need to, their thinking is, once they at a few mods they need more spark......WW
