Default 88 C68 AC programmer question

I need to remove the AC programmer on my 88 and then have the electronic board checked for bad solder joints or components. I have done some searching and the AC Programmer seems to be the root of my problem. I need as much information as possible to remove this part like do I need to remove the driver seat. Thank you in advance.

The HVAC programmer is held in a bracket on the firewall above the gas pedal. You unplug the electrical connector and remove a 7mm screw and it comes out of the bracket. After that you need to get the vacuum harness connector unplugged. It is held in place by a small push on clip that you can "unscrew". There is more info in this thread:

I removed the hush panel and found the AC programmer thanks to your photos. I saw the colored vacuum hoses. Can't see the 7mm bolt that holds the unit up. I haven't been under here since the late 90's when I had to replace the Brake Booster. Seats gota go.

If you look at the 4th picture in post #3 of the link I posted, it shows the tab that the 7mm screw goes into to hold the programmer into the bracket. It's on the bottom of the box, so it should be easy to find.

Thanks Cliff. There's a lot of wires running around down there. I need to pull the seat out this coming weekend so I can get closer. Question. If I pull the hush panel on the passenger side will I see the blend door assembly or will I have to remove something else?

Sorry, another question. How to I get to the interior light on the hush panel? Does the clear lens pop off with a screw driver?

The blend door assembly is inside the evaporator housing on the firewall in the engine compartment. The way to see it is to take out the blower control module. There is a motor that moves the blend door. My recollection is that you need to take the ECM out to see it.

You pretty much have to take the hush panel off. The clear lens has a connector at one end and if you pry on the wrong end it will break something. This is mine with some custom-made LEDs that I made to replace the bulb:

Thanks Cliff.
Just picked up the used AC Programmer from a totaled 88 Vette. Hope to install this weekend and pray it cures my cold air/hot air problem.

The help of a 1/4 flex extension and my wife who is able to lie down heads up in the driver seat area toward the gas peddle I was able to lower the AC programmer. I won't fit. Still trying to find away to disconnect the vacuum lines from the programmer box. I don't wish this project on anyone. May your C68 AC rule forever.
