The SRC light is on in my 92 Z07 and I am taking it in the shop in a few days to have it fixed (heopefully!) and I was wandering if it is ok to drive the car while the SRS is on? will I do any major (or minor) damage to the suspension in the mean time?
Can you give me some type of price range so I know that I am not getting screwed by the shop? I am not taking it to a dealer btw. Just a local shop here in Vegas.
A shop will be able to pull the code to see where the problem is (which of the actuators and/or the controller is bad). The actuators can run around $100 each if new or much cheaper from a salvage yard. I'll bet you have a broken gear in an actuator. Thats a $2.00 part that only comes with the actuator! Each shock can go for upwards of $200 new  although Bilstein can rebuild them to stock specs or a custom valving for a range of $50 to 75 each. The controller, located under the compatment behind the driver seat will run many more dollars.
IF you really like the FX3 suspension, it's (IMHO!) worth it to have it repaired. Or, you can always disconnect the wire loom going into the controller and remove the indicator lamp and install regular shocks of your choice.
I found out that the gear was busted in my front left shock inside the acuator, and it in turn messed up that part of the shock... GM wanted over $500 for a new actuator and over $500 for the shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found the shock at Ecklers for $200, But I need an Acuator! If anyone has one for sale, please letme know! or if you know whhere I can get one for a good price, letme know as well, Ecklers said that they did not make em anymore?!
Thanks,
Greg
PS: Getting my 52mm TB, 8mm Plug Wires, Red Line Fluids, A F P Regulator, 1.6 RR, installed as well this weekend, should be fun!
