Well, I thought that I couldn't afford this car before. Now I really can't afford it. I was on the road and I passed a van, after I passed him, it sounded like a huge rock hit the side of my car. I pulled into a parking lot to do a U-turn. As I left in first, I decided I was going to have a little fun, as I went to ****** second, there was no second. Then I put it in 3rd, which was still there, and fourth, which was still there. Overdrive still works, but when I put it back in first, first was gone too.

So I'm thinking maybe a shift fork or something?

1985 Corvette 4+3 transmission.

Daniel, don't be so negative..... so you can't shift.... big deal.
A lot of C4s have survived this problem... just time and $s.

I can definitely shift. The problem is the trans couldn't hold hard shifting. I wasn't even power shifting. Just "quick shifting" I guess you could say.

The one thing I learned real fast in life is if you want to play it is going to cost money and there is no end to it as things are always going to break and you need 2 cars one to play with and another for transportation. Before I was 16 I always had a toy then a car for transportation and a motorcycle cause I love riding. Was tearing up the toy before even putting it on the road. The same holds true to this day toy nice car and a bike

Funny thing is I'm not even ready to have this toy on the road yet. All the beating I'm doing on it is for tuning.

Okay. It's not too bad. There's a hole in the linkage arm that the stud on the side of the trans slips in through. That "stud" goes into the transmission and is either pressed or threaded into some plate that has a like a staircase design on it. That plate has a hole in it that connects to the shift fork. The "stud" that goes into the plate snapped. So I need to get the stud and the plate in order to fix it.

Does anyone know where to get them? Pictures and part numbers coming soon.

Thanks!

Okay here's the pictures. One side of the plate says B37 and the other side says II T10-40.

You can also see that everything in the trans is in good shape!

The side plate and the 1-2 shift fork should be common to any late model Borg Warner Super T-10. But I would start by contacting S-K Speed in Lindenhurst, NY.

Good to see that it might be an easy fix and a lot less expensive than many transmission issues.

True. That sounds a lot like me. At 15 I had a '64 GTO (toy) and a '65 Impala SS. (I didn't get the bike until I was 17.)

It should be a common replacement part for a Super T-10. Any auto repair shop parts guy should be able to get one.

If a replacement can't be found, I'd just TIG weld the stud back onto the plate.

Thanks guys. I bought it from S K Speed. A little more than I was expecting but I called around a few places and S K was the only one that had a brand new one. Thanks for all your help everybody.
