First thing to check would be the VSS maybe. Does your car have C68 (auto AC)? If it does you could see if it registers on the AC control panel. You just can't see it or it's 0 MPH? Does it display miles? How about trip?

it just shows o mph all the time, no miles, no trip. thanks

The total miles aren't displayed? 68681 or whatever the miles of your car are. You didn't mention the C68/auto AC. Do you have that or not? You could get someone with a good scanner to attatch to the ALDL and see if it can be picked up from there. Have you checked for a bad connection at the VSS? LH rear of the transmission. Silver dollar sized sensor with two wire connection. It should be very obvious.
