Default Internal vacuum/oil leak

I have been plagued with a vacuum leak for the past year. I tried propane detection and everything I could think of to locate the leak. Now I think I've found it. Lately, shortly after I come to a stop with the car idling, I will get a cloud of good old blue smoke out the back. At first I suspected the PCV valve. I pulled it while the engine was running, and it functioned normally. I have stock valve covers on so I should'nt be getting oil vapor sucked up by the PCV. What I think I've got is a vacuum leak in the intake manifold gasket(s) to the cyl head(s). I believe I'm pulling oil vapor out of the lifter gallery during idle. This engine has only about 5000 miles since being rebuilt by Golen's Engine Service (www.golensengineservice.com) Anyone ever encounter this?

I had a similar problem on a 455 Olds many years ago. If your block was decked and your heads resurfaced the angle between the the manifold and head changes. If this is the case you may need to have the manifold resurfaced to match this angle. I would be kind of surprised if this is the problem because the gasket used on the chev intake is fairly thick, the gasket on the 455 Olds is a thin metal one.

See if your machine shop thinks this is the problem.
