OK I just rebuilt my motor and trans... I think I need to add a MSD6AL because I had to go with 30lbs injectors. Now MSD recomends that when you install the MSD that you upgrade your cap and rotor with a performance cap and rotor with brass terminals. I have a 96 LT4 and the optispark cannot be upgraded only replaced.
1. Here is my question- Will the MSD burn up the cap and rotor in the stock optispark and will everything run ok with the MSD6AL.
2. Do I need the MSD?

well on my car, standard hei, ive burnt 3 caps. I have my msd unhooked right now and a special bushing on its way from summit. That should stop the melting. On an opti though? got me.
The MSD 6AL will work fine with your optispark. Had one on my car (93) for 4 years with no problems. Might have to remove your tach filter, but save it just in case you go back to stock.
Yes I am having the computer reprogramed through Ed Wright. I just added a LT4 Hot Cam and had the heads ported and polished and while they were putting it together might as well upgrade the injectors.. With that configuration do you think I will need the MSD?
