Lifter noise
After my car has been sitting over night and I start it for the first time in the morning there is a lot of lifter noise for 2 or 3 minutes or more. At first I thought an oil change would fix it, and it did, but only for about a month or so. (Maybe 500 miles). Now it is back to doing the same thing. Am I doing any damage to the car by running it like this? After it warms up it sounds and runs fine.

You may want to pull a valve cover off and see if there is sludge in the engine. You can also see the lifter valley through the pushrod guides.

The car has about 83k on it. I've had it for about 4k. The previous owner was very good about maintainance. I have all receipts and he did all the oil changes on time at the dealer
