Default fx3 ride control module - newbie!!!

hello everyone. i just purchased my first vette and have a question. the previous owner handed me a new fx3 module for the ride control due to the service light being on. he told me its plug and play which is what i did but the light on the dash is still on and i was wondering how or if it goes out on its own? and also, how do i know if the new module is even working? when you change the ride control settings do you hear anything? feel anything? im just wondering if the module wasnt the fix needed! 1993 vette!

Do you mean the module in the storage compartment OR the switch module in the console? If module in storage compartment I believe I'd put in the original one and then check the codes the system produces and move on from there. I believe for a '93 you ground pin C of the ALDL and the light should flash the code sequences. Jumper pin A and C and record the codes that are flashed. The light will flash, pause flash again.

Codes are likely:

12 = Start of sequence
13 = Left rear time out
14 = Right Front time out
21 = Left Front time out
22 = Right Rear time out
31 = Left Front out of position
32 = Right Front out of position
33 = Left Rear out of position
34 = Right Rear out of position

There are codes 41 and 42 possible also. A code of 23 will set also if the car is keyed to run 3 times without moving. That code should go away once the vehicle is driven. To clear the codes I believe the same jump of A & C will accomplish that also when done in 2 second intervals a total of three times. I'll try to post back but that's best I recall.

Were you supplied the Factory Service Manual with your purchase? If NOT you need to consider the purchase of one. Published by HELM for GM there would be two volumes. You want ONLY those with "red covers"! Expect to pay something $85 - $100 for them used. Anything less is a good deal. You need BOTH books.

Here is a link to how the ALDL is pinned and other uses of the connector:

Here's another that will be useful later:
