Thank you for your help.
I guess what I am trying to do is confirm that the wiring is the same. I really think the blue wire is shorted. But does that explain why grounding the cts wire does not start the fan. Just thinking out loud. I will try your suggestions.

About the multimeter. You say infinity is what I would see with the probes not connected anything. When I turn on my meter, actron
there is a 1. That is why I asked how does a multimetet display infinity. I thought it would be OL or an infinity symbol

I plug in the connector amd turn on the car . It heats up to 210 degrees and blows the fuse. So I decide to trace the wires. I am in the garage an follow the wires to the firewall. No breaks, nothing to indicate that they would be bad. I look at the tool box and see the original relay. I try it and the fan works. Fuse does not blow. So it is woking. Thank you all for your help.

What are you setting the meter to read?? It should be set to measure resistance, if you read 1 on the resistance setting, you need a new meter..

I am setting it to read Ohms. That is why I asked. It did not make sense. I found my fluke. It should work better. And besides I found the old relay and the fan came on. This has been a problem since last summer. So I really don't remember what started it. I am just glad it is over. Thank you

Hello, I am sorry but I do not have the part number. But it was easy to find. I just looked up the CTS and I believe that there were several temperature ranges listed. If you own a 1984 like mine be aware that they like heat. That car is made to run at 138 degrees. Too hot for my liking. I have a 195 thermostat and the 205 switch and the car runs good.

Do you remember where you looked it up? All of the vendors I checked only have one choice.

I am just thinking about this thread. Remember the switch that turns the fan on is located in the head on the passenger side of the motor. And I meant to say 238 degrees not 138, sorry.

Tom, I tried to send you a PM, but your In-Basket is full, and cannot receive any messages.

This low temp. ECT switch is available from Mid America Motorworks, p/n 609-106. I found the low temp switch for my '84 at my local Kragen/O'Reilly.
