Default "Special Edition" Tire Size Question???

I'm looking to get Chrome wheels from Dangerous Dave, but I have the "Collector Edition" Wheels which are 8 1/2 fronts and 9 1/2 rears. He said the I should just get 4 - 9 1/2's, and that my front tires would still fit.

Does that sound right? :confused:

My ZO1 came with the white painted 9 1/2" '89 style wheels so the tire & wheel will fit. I would suggest using 275 tires though, but your stock tires will fit so you could use them up and then go to the 275s. The rule of thumb is that tire width should be within 1" of the rim width for best look and performance.

BTW, directional control on grooved roads with the wider front tires is no problem with correct alignment and inflation.

I would upgrade the tires to 9.5" rims 275 on all 4s. You can then rotate. Unless you decide to go to GS rims like I have. ;)
This was stock sizes through 90?-92 on all vettes and through later years on Z07 equipped vettes. They will handle better than the 8.5/9.5 255/285 combo but will track truck lanes more which is why GM dropped them as a standard size.

Im very curious if anyone has tried running 255s in the front and 315s in the back. Porsche does that and most exotics use much smaller front wheels and huge rears. Anyone know the reason?

Here are my current sizes:
Front = 255/45/17
Rear = 285/40/17

Sounds like the fronts would just fit the 9 1/2 rim. Would there be a 1/2" gap (Assuming the tire was centered) on either side. Is this dangerous for turning or anything?
Sorry for all the questions, but my tires are only 3 months old.

They will fit but you'll be pushing the limit. The fronts fit rims 8"-9.5" according to the tire rack. You may find it easy to rub the rims on curbs as the rubber won't stick out much from the rims. If you get 315s rear with 17x11" rims you can use the back tires on the front and just buy two tires.
