Default Malfunctioning Accessory Position

When I turn the key in my 1990 Corvette one click to the "accessory" position, nothing happens. Is something broken? If so, how do I fix it?

The ignition switch on the lower column may be bad or may just need adjustment so when you turn the key switch there is enough movement in the rod to move the switch. Check that first. Then look at the rod and make sure it isnt bent, most of which is buried underneath the column covers so it will be hard to see. Inside the column there are several parts that have to work together to make the switch move. There is a "rack" and "gear" that are between the key switch and the rod, any of which could be bad. You will just have to open it up and see if adjustment doesnt solve your issue. Luckily the column in your Vette is a Saginaw and the internals are the same in just about every GM car of the same era.

Good luck!

Thanks!
Since I have to take apart the steering wheel column to do that, I'm guessing that would be a good time to also replace the column knuckle?
