NEED HELP PLEASE! Changed out the injectors last week and the car ran like new. Should have quit there but decided to change out the plugs and wires, just bored.
Car starts OK even when hot> idle is a little ruff, rev it up and it back fires bad, put in gear and the motor shakes real bad stumbles and back fires.
Wires are all on correct, All I did was just change the plugs and wires.
What happened? Any suggestions?
Do it all over again You Screwed up Maybe one or more of the plugs r cracked/or Flattened out/no gap and or the wires r mixed up. How many plugs u drop? How many Beers u have while doing this?
Put in rapid fire #5 gap from box at 45, thought that was the problem so took out and re-gaped at 35.> Maybe bad plugs? Ready to install the old ones to see if there is any difference. Wires are 100% correct.
What do you mean flattened out I did hit the plugs against the vice to press to 35, but as I stated first time put in from the box UN-touched at 45 and ran the same, very bad.
Just kidding anyways If u dont use a cut off spark plug wire straight end and push ur new plug into it and thread plug or start by hand and just use a long extension with a 45 on it Ive seen some plugs come out with 005 and 000 gap Thats flatened
Would like to make a suggestion here: DON'T set your plugs by hitting them on a vice or hard surface. They really need to be bent down from where the plug end starts its bend. You can get a round plug gauge at O'Reillys or NAPA for about $1.50 and then bend them as they should be. Problem is you might just end up bending the tip in and not the whole plug end. That is just MHO!!! As long as it takes to replace plugs, I hate doing things twice cuz I did it in haste the first time.

Hello Tommy,
Very good tip and your completely correct, I seen this done on You tube after I had the plugs already installed. I do not feel like doing this a 3rd time, but will remember for the next time I change them.
