Just got back in town (been gone for a couple of weeks for those if any following my new setup & want to see some results), installed a new starter since I fried the old one & I try to start my car & its a no go.
I have fuel pressure, spark, but no start & yes the engine does rorate.
BTW, im using a gm 730 ecm with speed density programming and yes the VATS is disabled.
I thought you were using a haltech?? I would recheck the wiring for the 7730, I bet there is something not right. Does it even act like it wants to fire? maybe the Distributor Module is bad.
I just went through the same circumstance this week. It ended up being a fuel injector. Seems that if you have an open or shorted injector the driver shuts down and none of the injectors operate. We tested each with an ohm meter and when we disconnected the bad injector the car started right up and I drove it home. With the car started when I plug in the bad injector the engine stops. My new set of injectors arrived today from Jegs and I'm getting ready to twist wrenches this evening.
I'm installing Ford, SVO 24# injectors which comes highly recommended here on the forum, except for a few who said Ford SVO's are no good, however there were more ya's than na's and Jegs had them for 219 for a set of 8.
Good luck yell if you need info from the shop manual.
Bill :) :)
Sounds like your injectors are not being pulsed. You can put an analog voltmeter across an injector plug, or a 12v lamp and it should pulse when you crank the engine. The VATS tells the ECM that the right pellet is in the ignition switch and the ECM then pulses the injectors. I don't know how you bypassed the VATS, but it is worth looking into.
I may have missed some other posts before..did this run recently then all of a sudden wont?
Or,If this is the first fire up for the engine all put back together, you may need to slightly loosen the dist. and have someone proceed to start the car then you advance the dist. by hand...if this works, then tighten down when its running good.
I had the dist. dropped in,lined up,and all it would do was crank over and over..after some trying and advice,I turned it ALOT by hand and it began to fire and run.If this works and the timing is a bit far our,see if its been installed a tooth off or so.Been there and done that!!
Good luck.
:)
no luck....I still cant get diacom to link up with the 730 ecm. I should have kept the haltech unit....
tomorrow i'll go at it again. Been a hot weekend here!
Yeah, I would have kept the haltech until the motor was running for sure.. You have too many variables now, Unknowned ECM configuration, along with a new motor install
