Colorado: My 91 failed for a missing "air injector system". The previous owner installed headers and apparently removed this system? Does that sound right?
I'm fairly mechanical, but this is uncharted territory for me. I've included images of the top of the motor in hopes that someone can point me in the right direction for buying and installing this system.
The other choice is to bring it to a qualified mechanic (which I'm not above doing!) but wanted to get a little info. from my peeps first.

Dear God, thats a plumbing tap.
Did the PO remove air pump? If he did...
You will have to buy all that hardware to make your Vette CO-SMOG compliant.

I'm so ignorant about this stuff... I'm glad you made that comment about the plumbing tap.... just realized THAT is the "plug" the emissions dude was referring to...
What you see is what I got. Where is that air pump supposed to be? Perhaps I'll dig around and see if I can find a picture of what is SHOULD look like!!
At least you have headers with the tubes on them. You will need a smog pump and egr if that is gone as well as the diverter valve. Maybe your state only does a visual and they just need to be on the car. I noticed you don't have the egr tube. most people toss those parts so you should be able to find them cheap.

nope... they put in on the rollers and have tubes on the exhaust... (I think the jack-wagon was enjoying himself... I swear he rode that thing for 10 minutes on the rollers... I should charge them for gas!!)
Thanks for the info... I'll start looking for parts.
The AIR pump is sitting between the alternator and the Throttle body, zoom back and take an engine picture of everything. It has a piece that swings over and bolts to the top of the alternator. The replacement pulley set just has a big bar there and bolts to the engine and alternator.
It looks like the previous owner installed Hooker 2149s to me, and just plugged the AIR inlet on the manifold and removed the lines. Probably did the same on the Cat.

You have the same Breathless "BPP" pulley I have. You will have to buy a new/used AIR pump and install it in place of that, along with the requisite hoses. Previous owner likely threw it all away. You likely will still have the electrical connectors bundled up underneath the Throttle body, if not it'll need to be rewired.

Not a painful job though.
