Default What Tire size is right for my car??

Hi Everybody,

I've posted this question in other forms, but am hoping for some input this time. I have an 84 with 3.07's and I just "upgraded" to the 97 vette rims. I have the stock tire sizes for both sizes of rims. I feel I've lost some of my performance/pull due to the larger diameter of the 18 inch wheel and 40 mm(?) sidewall. I would like to regain my original performance characteristics @ the track with my 18's. What size tires would be right for me? Would a 285/30/18 be too short to go? So far I found a tire that size, and is very affordable. The 285/35/18 is much more expensive, as I was explained this tire is an odd size to make. Thank you in advance!!
