Default c4 shock specs

looking at buying some shocks. Summit racing has a variety of them. i see on there web site a filter for choosing different shock extended and collapsed lengths (i.e. 9.25" - 15.34"). does anyone know what these values are for a stock shock? I have a basic 95 corvette (no handling options).
thanks,
chad

If I remember correctly the rear shock on my 92 FX3 had about 4.5 inches of travel. Should be easy to check on your car also-But you will need to remove the shock and measure fully extended and compressed. The fronts may have less travel (I never check the travel on my fronts).

Regards,
Steve

Unless your someone very familiar with suspension maintenance DO NOT purchase your shocks by using extended/collapsed filters from anyone. Just determine the brand you might like, the funds available and buy shocks correct for the application using a reliable vendor. Local would be good.

Online vendors like Summit Racing, JEG's, Vette Brakes, Vansteel, and others will have easy methods to look up shocks by year, model and any suspension options. A search will turn up shock brands and then you can decide what specific shocks will suit your needs. Then use those part numbers to order shocks.

Yeah just go with bilstien sports. At 100 bucks a shock i think vbp was one of the better prices ive seen. I have an old set of these on my car now and cant complain.

I was looking into this a while back for my '95 and found some information that I posted in a previous thread.

I found some info on the Bilstein HD (non Z51) and SP (Z51) for comparison.

I searched for my '95 Corvette and found length and damping values by part number for these shocks.
**The only length difference between the HD or SP is the compressed length of the front shocks. The Z51 has more travel and can go slightly lower.
**The damping rates are quite different. The Z51 rates are about twice as firm in both jounce and rebound.

For me the choice is easy. I will go with the Z51 shocks on my '95. I liked them on my '94 and was investigating it to see the differences. I like a firmer ride.

HD (B6) Front (non Z51) 24-020534
Length Min/Max 10.18" / 13.56"
Damping Jounce/Rebound 106 Nm/ 76 Nm

SP (B8) Front (Z51) 24-184861
Length Min/Max 9.43" / 13.56"
Damping Jounce/Rebound 228 Nm/ 261 Nm

HD (B6) Rear (non Z51) 24-020541
Length Min/Max 9.61" / 14.69"
Damping Jounce/Rebound 134 Nm/ 114 Nm

SP (B8) Rear (Z51) 24-184878
Length Min/Max 9.61" / 14.69"
Damping Jounce/Rebound 222 Nm/ 222 Nm

HD shocks are what the base suspension takes.
