Default FX3 Actuator install

Ok, I searched for this but didn't find a definitive enough answer for me.
I have new SRC shocks and I'm not sure about were the shock should be set. I have read that it doesn't matter where the shock is set and the actuator will just do it's thing and calibrate itself. I didn't find anything about this in the FSM.

The FSM says it's important to install the shock with the car at ride height. My car has no engine and is on jack stands. What's the big deal, I've lifted these cars a 100 times with the shocks on and nothing happened. I'm sure I've done a lot of things that the FSM doesn't recommend. What's your thoughts?

I googled "SRC Shocks" but didn't find much. My Bilstein shocks don't matter. When you start out, the thing initializes by going thru an end to end cycle.

The FX3 system does a quick self test once the engine is started and the car moves. The actuators will move the gear on the shaft according to what position the console selector is in.

The FX3 system will constantly adjust the shock stiffness based on the switch selector setting and the vehicle speed. The VSS provides input to the FX3 controller.

You should not have a problem in installing the shocks, but the reason the FSM wants the car a ride height is to make sure that the bolt torque does not "bind" the shock when it's stretched out; i.e. wheels off the ground. You can install the shocks, but it probably wouldn't hurt to not completely tighten the bolts until the car is complete. And then you should at least move the car some to get the springs to settle.

It's the same with sway bars; the mounting bolts and end links bolts should not be tightened to spec until the car is at ride height.

I've read that you are the man when it comes to FX3. Just to be clear, are you saying that it doesn't matter where the acuator is installed or where the shock setting is? I don't want to install the actuators and have them bind when it tries to self-test. TIA
