Default BFI install

Figured id come show some pics of my BFI(Big ****in intercooler) install.

I picked this up off the forums for what I consider a killer price.

Some test fitting.

Paint

After cutting up the fan shroud its installed!

Now I have to make a coupler for my IAT and Meth, then route the blowers outlet to the intercooler.

The kit came with this pipe but it makes 0 since as to how the hell they had it installed previously

probably have to cut it up and make it fit.

glad to see the intercooler installed as opposed to staring at me on my shelf!

Yes, the black discharge tube is probably only useful on your setup for parts.

The intercooler looks sharp now that it's painted. Good luck with the last parts of the install!

That core doesnt look very large. What size is it? Bell? Garrett?

I am taking out AC so mine will be similar but twice the width.

what do you mean "Bell, Garret?" its not really super big but its a good size for the compact area it fits in.

Bell and Garrett make the most popular/efficient intercooler cores.

Keep us up to date on iats when all done.

I almost bought that intercooler, but the inlet was on the wrong side. I'm sure I could have changed it, but I was hesitant and then you got. I'd be appreciative if you let us know how it performs. At some point I'm sure I will have to get a custom intercooler like the one you have.

I will be intersted to know how the cooling temps go with your intercooler?

I have quite a large intercooler myself and i bypass the blower in summer, cannot use a/c and blower over 90f ambient or she will overheat. I have been thinking of going the water methanol setup and getting rid of the intercooler.

Intersting to note the difference in cooling temps with a blown intercooled TPI to LT1?

The TPI's are pretty much on the limit in cooling capacity standard, i have no problem in winter just summer.
I have the need for a/c more than the need for speed in Summer.

I have the standard intercooler setup in one one side and out the other.

Well I do have a electric water pump that helps when sitting in traffic, I have drivin about 100 miles with the intercooler installed and didnt have any problems over heating, but my AC is currently disabled and needs a line plumbed.

Fuel pump went out yesterday! more delays on getting this project finished up.
