Default revmax stall converter...

has anyone ever heard of a company called revmax I found them on ebay and they are supposed to be stalls made by GM. I just built a 383 for my 92 vette and I looked on their website they say you can give them the info on your car and they will cut a stall to stall exactly to your desired rpm I just wanted to know has anyone ever used one of these stalls and if so how do they perform. here is a link to the stall I was looking at. http://www.ebay.com/itm/700R4-30-SPLINE-Stage-3-3500-Stall-Torque-Converter-/310843352813?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item485fb526ed&vxp=mtr

Almost got one, ended up with a vig3200, but my friend got one and is pleased with it. I believe if you arnt going to break 400~450 wheel it will do fine.

I prefer the vigilante TC. 5 year warranty and 1 free restall. So if I toast the trans, I can use the restall and have them clean it out. 5 year warranty ain't bad when they know what you are using them for.

You can get PI to cut the TC for you and if you don't like the stall, they will restall which is better to simply making it stall for you at a certain speed.

I first used one of their TCs in my '82 Camaro with 2000 LS1/4L60E in late 2010 (sorry, photo taken with my old Palm cell phone).

I had it restalled over the winter because I missed on the estimated stall need. I ran it in the '11, '12, & '13 racing seasons while driving it to work daily.

How well does it work? Well, this is from racing it during the '13 season:

I'm also running one in my '57 Bel Air with 403 cid LS/4L80E. Don't have a pic of the results from this year with it all in one place, but let's just say I haven't been too disappointed (the haul from a couple of weekends, for example):

They will stall to spec. He's hit it pretty close for these just based on what I told him about the engine & car, and what stall I thought I wanted.

My son has a 2001 S10 Blazer that he bought with an LS1 clone and 4L60E swapped in. They had put a Yank in it. It took a lot of RPMs to get moving on the street, and seemed too much on the track. He pulled it and put in one from RevMax spec'd exactly like what I have in the Camaro, much happier with it.

I'm considering putting one in the Vette eventually. It could use more stall.

My car should have around 425 to 450 at the wheels on motor and I plan to spray it with a 175 shot do you guys think that stall will hold up to that

Tell them that's what you're doing, and they'll build one for you. It'll probably be one of their Stage 5 billet front cover units (which is what I'm using in the '57, dyno'd at 417 to the wheels at altitude on a conservative tune), with anti-balloon plate (which I don't have, because I don't plan on spraying it), rather than the one you linked (which they say is good up to 500 HP). Yes, it'll cost more than $399.

A little more info (and, no, I'm not being paid by them...):

They are very popular in the performance truck crowd, which should tell you that they can build a unit that will hold up. Those sprayed, propane-injected, inter-cooled turbo diesels put out some insane power.

Also, I'm running a 4L80E (which I understand you aren't). I talked to a local company that is big with local racers, and he was all good until I mentioned the stall I was looking for. He said he'd never built a 4L80E converter with that much stall, and he'd have to look into it. A couple days later, he called back and said he "thought" he could build it with..., and named off some parts. I called RevMax after that, gave them the same information I gave the local guy, they said, "Yeah, we build about 6 of those a week," and clicked off from memory the same list of parts the local guy had to research.

They may not have Yank or Vig's reputation (yet), and yes, I did have to pay for the restall I did in '11, but I still paid less than I would have paid for a "free" restall from Vig.

What I'm saying is, they aren't a fly-by-night, new-guy-on-the-block outfit. They know what they're doing, and can deliver what you want.

If it were me, I don't think I will go that route. I would let the builder do it. Why? Because if the transmission breaks, I don't want the builder blaming the TC and the TC company blaming the transmission builder.

There's something to be said for that.

I know this because I have been there and done that and don't want to again.
