I'm very happy with it. Easy to install, very well priced and easy to install. If you look at what an alternative brand of shift light sells for, then add the optional LEDS and the new activation point "rpm pills" every time you want to change activation rpm nothing comes close pricewise.
Mine is mounted in a tacky kinda way on the a-pillar, it ain't moving though, I love it where it is. It is bright but because the light is well focused it won't be a problem unless you aim it square at your eyes.
I've got a harlan light. I raced with it the first time tonight. Too bad my car has some serious other issues right now. I suppose I don't have any troubles with the light. I'm just a little too pissed to care.
It might not be quite as  as mounting it in the AC duct, but I like mine on the A pillar. Makes it easy to get at if I want to change the RPM and it is almost invisible from outside the car. I have raced it in the evening and it does not shine in my eyes. Mounted it with the 3M double sided tape.
