I have seen them go for much less with the tranny, computer, and wiring harness.
Whenever buying an LT1 from anyone, be careful. There was an iron head version that came in the Impala, Caprice, Roadmaster, and RWD Cadillac. The aluminum head version that came in the F-bodies was a 2-bolt block. Only the Corvettes got the 4-bolt.
The only way I would buy it is if I saw the car that it was to come out of and personally looked at the odometer. Don't ever believe anyone's mileage claim.
I wouldn't bother. the LT1 isn't so wonderful that its worth swtching. For that kind of $$ you could build an evil L98 and not have any computer hassles that would be involved in doing an LT1 swap.
I sort of thought that's what I would hear after all the LT1 is only 60 hp more than my L98.But from what I've been told to get 60 hp more out of my L98 would cost some bucks.I had a 70 Z28 with lt1 and it had 375 hp.I don't see why so hard to get the L98 to have that hp.The Z didn't have a big cam sound but gm sure did have that engine set up right because it sure was bad azz.

That 70 LT1 is a totaly different engine for the late model LT1's. The 70 was the "Classic" Chevy small-block used in Vettes from 55-91. The modern LT1 is a new generation engine. Believe the only major interchangable part was the crankshaft. (Then there is the LS1 with no major interchangable parts).
The '70 LT1 in the Vette was 370 hp. Don't know what the Camaro rating was.
Yes, but it made only 295HP net (the way engines are measured today). So a 92-96 LT1 has more HP than a 70 LT-1. To your question, you can make your L98 have 300HP (net) for lots less than $3500.
