Default PBR Caliper and Pads

Hi guys, I have a 1984 C-4 Corvette (by the VIN). However, as it comes time for fixing issues, I'm starting to discover it isn't what it seems. First off, I cannot seem to find out who the owner was of the car (the guy I bought the car off of was the owner after this man and he lost all contact info and never touched the car, it just sat in his garage) that did all the modifications (i.e. the rebuilt motor that I honestly have no idea what it is and not the stock, the roll cage w/ fire extinguisher and Go-Pro mount, the 4 point harnesses on both seats, and the list goes on). Most recently though, it has come time to change the front brake pads... well, turns out they are not OE (big surprise) and in fact PBR... and it turns out none of my local parts stores seem to know what I'm talking about. PBR is out of Australia as far as I know... and their sight is very on their types of calipers... and don't even show pads. I'd really like some help with finding out how to purchase new pads for these. I'll post pics after this to hopefully jog someone's memory if they aren't sure. I really really need help guys.

Your car appears to have had '88+ brakes added with adapters to the front. Measure the diameter of the rotor. Is it 12" or 13"? 13" would be J55 brakes for '88+ cars and 12" would be base brakes for the 88+ cars. That seems to be all that you would need to know. Buy brakes for whichever application you find you have.

PBR is the original vendor for the C4 Corvette so you've no issues there.

It would also be important or of concern what size the bolts are that hold the adapter to the spindle. An '84 was a single year that used M12 bolts to attach the caliper to the spindle, all '85 and newer used M14. It's awfully difficult to attempt to discern much more from the snapshots.

The bolts we're concerned with are the ones with cotter keys in them.

God... I've never done brakes.... and I remounted the wheels. Haha.. the caliper retaining bolts are huge too. My brake assembly kit is too small. the largest socket was a 13/16s and couldn't mount on the caliper. Sorry the Pics aren't much help. I'm not too good with this description. Here are some other pics.

Haha! No problem! And yeah, actually we both live at the coast here, Wilmington NC. And the PO is a mechanic at a boat shop here in town. So the car has been around salt water for 2yrs. Oh and update: got the replacement brakes at carquest. Showed them these pics and they found them.

Your caliper pin looks loose in post #3. There should be a E clip on the other end to hold it in place.

Almost all of the brake parts on C4s were made by PBR. That includes the calipers and the master cylinder. The brake booster is also a PBR part.

Yes it does look loose, it's not quite as obvious in the original post but it is something that needs corrected.
